Academic musicians, including veterans, graduates and students, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus through a musical evening hosted by the Opera Theater at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The evening was attended by the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, the Higher Institute's orchestra, the choir of the Higher Institute, the Chamber's choir, the traditional instrument troupe and the Institute's Guitarist Orchestra.

The evening program included playing the opening ceremony of the late founder of the Institute, the musician Salhi Al-Wadi, as a pledge of loyalty from Syrian musicians to the founder of the institute. She also played many pieces, including Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, in addition to the presentation of videos talking about the establishment of a band directed by Nadine Al-Habal and honoring the outstanding students in the institute.

Dr. Labana Mashouh, Minister of Culture, confirmed in a statement to SANA the importance of the celebration, as it celebrates the Higher Institute of Music, which many of the best musicians in Syria and the Arab world have gone out and exported to all parts of the world, noting the high level that distinguishes the institute and the graduation of students according to distinguished academic standards and affirming that the Ministry of Culture continues to support it In order to maintain its civilized enlightening role.

The Dean of the Higher Institute of Music, Maestro Adnan Fathallah pointed out that today's evening is a celebration of the nobility of this Syrian academic musical institution through the participation of its cadres, including professors, students, administrators and graduates, in advance of thanks to everyone who provided, gave and believed in the importance of academic music and contributed to raising the level of the musical movement within the country and its advancement. .

He pointed out that the institute created a healthy environment for the graduation of academic musicians, pointing out that the conditions of the terrorist war that took place in Syria made its students and professors more dependent on it to maintain the level it provides and to provide the musical cultural movement with experiences that meet all training and study conditions to the highest standards.

The Higher Institute of Music was established in 1990 and contains 8 departments for stringed, wind and percussion instruments, piano, Arabic music, orchestral performance, choral, chamber music, classical singing and theoretical sciences.
