The “Alte Mühle” sanctuary in Bruck is fighting for survival.
He has no more income due to the corona.
Now the animals are threatened with death.
Bruck -
No food for the animals: The
"Alte Mühle"
in Bruck is asking for donations.
The
sanctuary
is for many injured and violated Animals - unlike in a
shelter
- the last port of call.
The family business currently houses
30 horses
as well as two
sheep,
two
pigs
, four
dogs
and three
cats
, says Julia Rogg.
"Alte Mühle" sanctuary in Bruck: Because of Corona nothing flows into the till
The
horse farm
normally gave
riding lessons to
around 200 children a week
and rented out holiday homes to cover the costs for feed and
care
.
He also offered various educational programs and
therapies for children
in combination with animals and nature.
"Since December 8th, not even one-to-one lessons are allowed," says Rogg.
Because of the
corona lockdown
, there is currently
no
more
income
.
"We are not allowed to earn anything, but the animals are still hungry," explains Rogg of the dramatic situation.
The court has around
10,000 euros monthly fixed costs
, she explains.
Not counting the
veterinarian
,
farrier
or
operations on
injured horses.
A horse alone costs around ten to 20 euros a day.
State aid for the past few months is also still a long way off.
Animals in the “Alte Mühle” sanctuary are threatened with death - because of Corona
The farm, which is under the management of Rogg's mother Regina Peter, has already tried to bring in some money with “merchandise”.
He sold printed hoodies and t-shirts as well as annual calendars with photos of the animals.
The turnover from this is too low.
With the help of
donations, animal sponsorships and “carrot subscriptions”,
the leaders hope that they will be able to feed the animals as a “last chance”.
This means one-off or monthly amounts that
contribute
to the repayment of
feed
costs.
Dependent on donations and animal sponsorships: the “Alte Mühle” sanctuary asks for help
In the case of a one-year
animal sponsorship,
for example, there is the possibility that the horse sponsor receives photos and information material about the sponsored horse.
It is also possible to name them on a donor board.
Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, they would have to give up animals, i.e. kill them, the zookeeper fears.
This would be the
"loss of my mother's life's work,"
says Rogg.
