The colorful evening on the 30th birthday of the neighborhood help also fell victim to the corona pandemic.
During the Advent season, the volunteers came up with something nonetheless: These days, the head of the association Eva Rühling and a few fellow campaigners distributed 80 gift packages and cookie plates to the volunteer senior citizens, who in turn distribute them to their protégés.
The campaign was made possible by a grant from the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs amounting to 1000 euros and a donation from the Horst Seemann Foundation.
“Unfortunately, we cannot distribute these presents at the big Christmas party that we usually hold every year,” Rühling regrets.
But the committed senior helpers like to jump in as Christmas elves.
Vice President of the Association Ernst Wieser thinks this is a good solution: “I believe that the seniors are very happy when they receive gifts from people who help them in everyday life and with whom a friendly relationship has developed. "
As soon as the situation permits, there should be a surprise for the visitors to the senior citizens' meeting.
Rühling: "We don't know when that will be, and hope that it won't be time for Easter nests as a present."
