After several farms in the Landes and in the West of France, new cases of avian flu should emerge in the coming days in other departments.
This was announced by Julien Denormandie, Minister of Agriculture and Food, on Tuesday.
“
There are suspicions and probably other cases that will be announced in other departments.
But I am waiting to know what we are talking about before specifying things,
”he explained on Public Senate, referring to the necessary slaughter of“
several thousand animals
”.

We do a lot of testing.
We take very strict security measures.
But where it is difficult is that this avian influenza is transmitted by wild animals.
We are in total vigilance throughout the country,
”added the Minister.
Appeal to consumer patriotism
While several countries are closing their import borders, especially Asian countries, Julien Denormandie reminded us "
this avian influenza is in no way transmissible to humans so eat chicken, eggs, ducks. , foie gras, without risk
”.
As the holidays approach, the latter calls on the French to “
consumer patriotism
” because “
in any act of consumption, there is an act of citizenship
”.

I appeal to this patriotism, as soon as you can
."
This appeal is all the more necessary as the poultry sector is finding itself in difficulty following the closure of restaurants which constitute one of the main outlets.

We created a category for those sectors which depend on administratively closed sectors and which must be given a boost.
Exemption from charges, possibility of having the solidarity fund ... I wanted the festive sectors to obviously benefit from all this aid.
In addition to that, my ministry does a fine job of determining who needs special help and each time it is determined.
We do the best we can to make sure there are no holes in the racket, but my feeling is that we have spotted all the sectors.
On the other hand, all this is moving.
So we are in a dynamic relationship to adapt and improve the systems
