As a culmination of the visit of 25 Syrian doctors to Russia as part of the Russian President's "New Generation" program, a meeting was held at the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, with the participation of 10 Syrian doctors from all specialties, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of experiences in the medical field, especially among the younger generation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Federal Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, Yevgeny Primakov, welcomed via video technology from Moscow the participation of Syrian doctors in the joint program to raise the scientific, training and qualification level of Syrian doctors in the medical field via the Internet through lectures, seminars and surgeries conducted by doctors and professors in Russia, indicating that work will be done. To prepare a program for periodic meetings of Syrian doctors at the Russian Cultural Center in order to complete the implementation of the qualifying and training program.
The Director of the Russian Cultural Center, Nikolai Sukhov, told SANA that the meeting came to reinforce the visit of Syrian doctors from the younger generation to Russia to learn about the activity of Russian medical institutions and to communicate with Russian youth coinciding with the opening of the Russian-Syrian forum "Medicine Without Borders" in partnership with the Russian Business Council. And cooperation with the Syrian Ministry of Health and the Syrian Embassy in Moscow.
For his part, the director of the Russian-Syrian Business Council, Dr. Luay Youssef, stated that today's meeting came as the culmination of the results of the Syrian medical delegation's visit to Moscow to conduct a number of meetings, training courses, scientific workshops and rehabilitative seminars with the aim of exchanging experiences in combating Coronavirus infection, expressing his confidence in further cooperation between Young Russian and Syrian doctors.
The advisor of the Russian Cultural Center, Ali Al-Ahmad, indicated that the meeting of Syrian doctors with their Russian counterparts constitutes a form of communication to learn the latest scientific techniques used in the Russian Federation and the West, pointing to the need to rely on the younger generation and benefit from the transfer of the experiences of previous generations to him, revealing the existence of subsequent experiences in other specialties to journalists. And engineers, for postgraduate studies and intermediate institutes to repeat the same experience and gain more knowledge.
In turn, Dr. Haitham Abbasi, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Damascus, explained the importance of the meeting in exchanging medical expertise and strengthening the bonds of friendship between Syria and the Russian Federation, calling for regular visits to Syrian doctors to raise the scientific level and provide the new generation students with an opportunity to learn about the latest developments and scientific developments.
Elisa Makhlouf, the laboratory specialist at the Children's Hospital of Tartous, indicated that it is the first time that Syrian young doctors participate in the New Generation Program, and it is an opportunity to develop and deepen Russian-Syrian relations in various fields, pointing out that their activity program in Russia included field trips in Moscow and St. Petersburg hospitals and introductory tours For the landmarks of the two cities, as well as a visit to the Russian State Duma and the Center for Emergency Medicine to see the latest scientific developments in Russia.
The "New Generation" program is the only governmental program of its kind in Russia through which platforms for dialogue between countries are organized, allowing foreign participants to express their views on the issues under discussion, as well as to get acquainted with the views of the Russian side.
