By chance it was noticed in an apartment building in Rottenbuch that there were no escape routes.

Even so, the homeowners were not allowed to simply add outside stairs.

First an application had to be dealt with in the local council.

Rottenbuch

- It was only a small amount of smoke - luckily.

Because after the fire brigade moved to Sommerkellerweg 5 in Rottenbuch last year, the building was examined more closely.

It came up: The fire protection for the top floor apartments is not sufficient.

That is why the local council had now submitted an application for a change of use from the house owners, which should enable the renovation work.

Because so far, according to Mayor Markus Bader, there has never been any debate about what is actually in the historical building that belongs to a GbR.

It once formed the eastern part of the Augustinian Canons Monastery, and it was later rebuilt.

At the meeting, Bader could not say since when there have been apartments in the house.

“It has probably been used for a long time based on its history.” The fact that the building is inhabited was something that no local council had to complain about - the change in use in living space was purely a matter of form.

Scaffolding as a temporary solution

Only on the subject of “parking spaces” were there critical voices - because the application only revolved around the top floor, only the four parking spaces for these two apartments had to be verified.

However, according to the current parking regulations, 15 would have to be available for the entire building - but only 14 were shown in the present plan, some of them in front of a garage.

“But there is a grandfathering,” said branch manager Peter Vogt, explaining why the remaining apartments and parking spaces were not an issue for the committee.

That finally nodded unanimously to the change of use.

Bader made it very clear beforehand how important this was.

Because only with this is the way free to be allowed to add external stairs.

The two top floor apartments were previously only accessible via the stairwell.

However, due to the location in which the rooms are located, a second escape route must be available.

“A fire ladder extends up to a height of eight meters,” explained Bader - but the apartments are higher up.

Therefore, external stairs should now be built.

For a while, scaffolding is currently creating security for the residents.

There was also a request in the local council to create an entrance for a fire engine with a turntable ladder - but this is not required for fire protection.

"All in all, at least so much has happened to the outside staircase that you can now sleep with a clear conscience," said Bader.

Even if "even more would be possible" with a wider driveway.

66 meters, the cell phone tower on the Peitinger Schnaidberg was once the tallest wooden structure in Germany.

But his days are numbered.

Hunters and farmers would like farm roads to be closed in the area of the Rappenmoos and mountain meadows.

But Rottenbuch's mayor, Markus Bader, is not a fan of bans.

From 2021, interested parties can prepare to work with six to ten year olds in Rottenbuch.

"Regens Wagner" then offers a training course that qualifies as a specialist within two years.

The offer is aimed at those who want to gain a new footing professionally.
