- The Maltese have occupied almost 30 rooms in the eastern part of the former BND barracks for vaccination.

In addition to offices and social rooms, there are twelve vaccination rooms available, each equipped with a couch, desk and chair.

Linoleum was laid on all floors in case a patient got sick after the vaccination and had to mop up.

District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) now gave first insights into the center on Wasserburger Landstrasse in Haar.

Alexander Brandstaeter is the project manager at Malteser in Haar.

He and his team have been preparing everything for weeks: sticking markings on the floor and many doors, affixing barrier tapes, arrows, Plexiglas panes, and setting up the warehouse with two large refrigerators for the vaccine and a film room with 35 chairs.

Allow an hour for vaccination

There are also numerous relaxation rooms for a break after the procedure.

"Some will be able to go home after five minutes, some, depending on the previous illness and state of health, will be observed for up to 30 minutes," explains the head doctor of the vaccination center, Georg Maier.

Therefore you have to calculate an hour for the vaccination.

That is why the number of vaccinations cannot be increased indiscriminately, especially since everyone has to be vaccinated a second time for full protection after 28 days.

"We have enough staff, many former doctors have also contacted us, because the patient consultation has to be carried out by a doctor - we can delegate everything else, including the prick, to specialist staff," says Maier.

However, he reveals, there is a way to shorten the procedure significantly.

Anyone who has watched the video from the Federal Ministry of Health after taking a fever at the entrance and after checking the data to see whether they are really registered and is informed about the risks of a vaccination can tick the form in the form and dispense with the doctor's consultation.

"Those who do that will of course be through much faster," says Maier.

The vaccination team consists of 35 people, including doctors, and up to 350 people can be vaccinated in ten hours a day.

No information about appointments yet

The Maltese have prepared everything for the big vaccination.

“However, we still have no information on how to get in touch with the first group of those to be vaccinated.

Do they get in touch with us, or do we get in touch with them? ”Asks Göbel, although there is slight criticism, because nobody is allowed to come without an appointment.

In addition, the uniform software from the ministry is still missing, with which all patients are recorded and reported to the RKI.

"The vaccination video is still missing - and the most important thing: the vaccine," says Göbel.

As soon as everything is there, according to Göbel, it will take two days to get started.

The other two vaccination centers are being built in Unterschleißheim and Oberhaching (we reported).

The Bavarian Red Cross will head the vaccination center in Unterschleißheim and the Johanniter in Oberhaching.

Up to 1300 tests a day

The Malteser in Haar has also been responsible for the district's central corona test station on Wasserburger Strasse for several months.

Up to 1300 tests are carried out in a day.

“It is good that the district has also given the vaccination center here, there is enough space without test-willing and vaccinees getting in each other's way.

We are a well-rehearsed team that has tested all processes several times, ”says Malteser Managing Director Dieter Wünsche.
