For the first time in the UAE and probably in the Arab world in general, a new residential project being built these days in one of the most prestigious areas of Dubai will include a synagogue, a Shabbat elevator and a mikveh tehara.

Another interesting fact is that behind the unique project are Syrian real estate developer and Israeli businessman Haim Weizmann, who is currently in Dubai as part of the "Israel-Dubai" conference he organizes together with the "Weizmann Properties" group.

Weizmann revealed during a visit to the project that the Syrian developer gave them a gift in the form of a magnificent synagogue to be built on the second floor of the project, and assured him that if he met the goals of selling the apartments he would also build a mikveh and a kosher restaurant.

Yesterday, a mezuzah ceremony was held at the site, the introduction of a Torah scroll and the conclusion of a tractate.

Dozens of businessmen, rabbis, public figures and real estate entrepreneurs from Israel, France, Georgia and other countries participate in the "Israel-Dubai" conference, which combines professional conferences with a Hanukkah celebration in a traditional Jewish atmosphere on Dubai soil.

As part of the conference, as an act of appreciation for the friendship that develops between the parties, senior rabbis and imams will attend the Yoni Shalom flowering ceremony.

Hanukkah candles will also be lit near the famous Burj Khalifa Tower.

Weizmann said that "last year, no one would have believed that we would celebrate the current Hanukkah by lighting candles in Dubai with our new friends from the emirates. Along with social ties, we are also building close business ties that will open up many and varied options for investors from Israel and other countries."
