The United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution establishing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
Wafa news agency reported that the General Assembly adopted the resolution of the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people by a majority of 168 votes, while 4 states and the occupation entity opposed it, while 10 countries abstained from voting.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki stated that the unanimous vote on this resolution constitutes a natural response to attempts to undermine the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and a public confrontation against the violations of "Israel" and its illegal practices.
Al-Maliki expressed his thanks to the countries that adopted and voted in favor of the resolution, considering that the right to self-determination is at the heart of the international community's attention and it is a fundamental and inalienable right of the peoples, especially the Palestinian people, and its association with the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homes, establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, and end the occupation.
Al-Maliki condemned the stances of countries that vote against the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, considering that they are far from legal principles and are partners in the crime of colonialism and other crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation.
Al-Maliki called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and find mechanisms to implement its obligations and decisions to protect the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and to take practical measures in the face of the Israeli occupation and those rogue states that encourage it to its violations and crimes.
