The use of GSS personnel will be reduced to exceptional cases from January 20

The GSS Ministerial Committee, headed by Intelligence Minister Eli Cohen, decided today (Wednesday) to stop using GSS IDPs for the general population as part of the fight in Corona, and to use the tool only in exceptional cases of infected people who do not cooperate with the epidemiological investigation or if there is a significant increase.

According to the data presented at the hearing, about 93% of all patients are currently located by the Home Front Command's human epidemiological investigation system, which has reduced the exclusive use of the GSS 'locating tool to 7% of patients in the background of the improvement in epidemiological investigations and contact detection. "K recommended to cease sweeping operation of the sites and operate them only in a targeted manner - on the grounds that such a move has a significant benefit in terms of reducing economic damage and damaging public trust.

The Ministry of Health wanted to continue the sweeping tests until March, but the GSS recommended that the tool be used only for those who refuse to investigate and in exceptional cases of illness. 

According to the decision, the placements will be extended by another 21 days, but the use of this tool in a sweeping manner will be stopped from the expiration date of the law that authorized the GSS to operate it, which was enacted last July for six months.

Later, a new law will be enacted that will be adapted to a more limited use of the neighbors' locating tools.
