The mayor of Chevilly-Larue in Val-de-Marne, Stéphanie Daumin, said on Wednesday to be the victim of a series of "
acts of intimidation
", including the recent assault targeting her son, in connection with her according to her. denunciation of "

On December 7, her son was assaulted on his way home from college.

He starts to enter the house, an ambushed person comes in and punches him before running off, he does not take the bike, the keys or a phone,
" Daumin reported.

Very clearly, these are acts of intimidation, there is no room for doubt on the question of a succession of chances
", she said, also referring to the damage caused "

", added the mayor without giving more details.
An investigation was opened following the assault on his son, without arrest at this stage, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Hearings will have to take place, to clarify the motive of the aggression, and in particular the link with the quality of mayor of Mrs. Daumin
", one indicates.
Another investigation is also underway concerning the firework mortar fire.
These facts were revealed Tuesday evening by the association of mayors of Val-de-Marne chaired by the mayor (PS) of Alfortville, Luc Carvounas, who supported the elected.
The latter has called on a private security service to protect her house and intends to request functional protection.

If in our Republic, elected officials become targets to prevent them from acting, our democracy is in danger,
" said Stéphanie Daumin.
The Association of Mayors of Ile-de-France (AMIF) denounced in a
press
release "
an escalation of violence which has turned a
corner
by attacking the child
" of Daumin.

To attack a child is a cowardly and despicable act.
To do so to reach a mayor in his function of elected representative of the Republic is unforgivable
”, insisted the AMIF, recalling having launched an investigation in his area“ in
order to measure the feeling of insecurity of the mayors
”.
According to figures from the Association of Mayors of France (AMF), 233 mayors were attacked from January to July against 198 last year at the same time.
For the whole of 2019, 383 elected officials suffered beatings or insults, against 361 in 2018.
