Wirecard and Jan Marsalek: advertiser Dirk Ströer meets the Wirecard bankruptcy very personally

2020-12-16T15:53:40.097Z

In the summer, posters were used to find the fugitive Wirecard manager Jan Marsalek - almost exclusively on the displays of the MDax group Ströer. Supervisory board Dirk Ströer meets the bankruptcy very personally.

A manager has never been sought like this in Germany: in subway stations, under railway bridges, at road crossings.

In August, the face of

Jan Marsalek

(40), the alleged head of the billions in

fraud

at the insolvent Dax group Wirecard,

shone larger than life on advertising displays

.

The Federal Criminal Police Office suspects the former Wirecard board member abroad.

But especially in Germany, the maximum pressure to search was built up - with the kind support of the advertising company Ströer.

The public manhunt for Marsalek was practically exclusively on Ströer displays.

The MDax company, in which supervisory board chairman

Dirk Ströer

(51) and co-CEO

Udo Müller

(58) hold almost 42 percent, made the space available particularly cheaply, well below the list price, as insiders say.

The advertising company announced that it would often give its displays to municipalities and federal authorities for such purposes.

For Dirk Ströer, who, according to manager magazin’s richest list, is one of the 200 richest Germans with a fortune of around one billion euros, the search for Marsalek also has a personal touch.

People around him say that Ströer lost a lot of money in the Wirecard crash.

He does not comment on it.
