She quoted four trade union statements as saying that the staff of the department have been performing their duties in a professional manner in accordance with the law to ensure that detainees receive fair and proper treatment, including medical examinations, personal hygiene, complaint channels, and visits by justices of the peace.
For detainees who intend to harm themselves or others, the Immigration Department will also take corresponding measures with reference to the professional assessment and recommendations of the doctor on duty.
Ge Peifan said that in view of the far-reaching impact of the above-mentioned incident, he hopes that the Information Technology and Broadcasting Committee will join the agenda as soon as possible and request the Bureau of Commerce and Economic Development and the Broadcasting Authority to thoroughly investigate the incident.
