This progression is driven by the constant rise in real estate prices - which INSEE calls

After rising 12% in 2018, the SBF 120 stock market index jumped 25% in 2019.

It is this revaluation of financial assets that explains the 6.2% increase in household net wealth (after + 2.1% in 2018), which now stands at € 12,561 billion.

For this same reason, the equity of non-financial and financial companies recovered strongly, to respectively 11.042 billion euros (+ 13.4%) and 3270 billion euros (+ 6.1%).

On the other hand, the wealth of general government is growing more slowly than in 2018 (+ 10.3%, after + 13.3%);

it reached 328 billion euros at the end of 2019.

INSEE warns that in 2020

"the Covid-19 health crisis will have an influence on the national economic heritage"
