A panel of external consultants at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended tonight (Friday) that the modern company's vaccine against corona be approved for emergency use.

This is the second vaccine against the virus to enter immediate use in the United States.

Documents released ahead of the hearing stated that no new safety issues were found in the vaccine.

Modern's vaccine, which is easier to operate and carry than Pfizer's, was found to be effective in 95% of the subjects.

According to the 54-page document, FDA personnel found no significant side effects in the vaccine, among those aged 18 and over.

Unlike Pfizer injections, Modern's vaccine does not need to be stored in extreme cold conditions of 70 degrees below zero but only of 20, as in a regular freezer, so it is easier to transport and maintain.

Once approved, Moderna's vaccine deliveries will begin within 24 hours.

Last week, the same professional committee approved the vaccine of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and its German partner Biontech.

The FDA granted emergency approval for the marketing of Pfizer's vaccine a day later, in a move that paved the way for a massive vaccination campaign, which began last Monday in the United States.
