Munich goes into hard lockdown.
Almost all of the retail trade closes - shortly before Christmas.
There are of course exceptions such as grocery stores and pharmacies.
The lockdown list.
Before Christmas of
all times
: The
hard lockdown
will come into force on Wednesday (December 16).
Basically, all shops in Munich have to close, but supermarkets and pharmacies are allowed to remain open.
There is an exception
for the
Viktualienmarkt
.
Daycare centers
,
schools
and
recycling centers or KVR
- you can find an initial overview here.

Buy groceries during corona lockdown
The food trade remains open throughout Bavaria - this also applies, including direct marketing, pick-up and delivery services, beverage markets, health food stores.
The physical well-being of pets is also taken care of: the
sale of animal supplies
and
feed
remains open.
There is a partial solution
for
weekly markets
: Stalls that sell groceries are allowed to keep opening.
This also applies to fixed markets such as the
Viktualienmarkt
.
Stalls where there is no food close.
However, it is still unclear whether stands where you can buy fir branches and Advent wreaths will remain open.
Because: Christmas trees are still being sold.
Recycling centers in Munich open during lockdown?
So far, it is unclear what will
apply
at the municipal
recycling centers
from Wednesday
.
The responsible municipal department was unable to provide precise information by Tuesday afternoon - they are waiting for details from the Free State.
What is certain is that the
city's used goods department store (Hall 2) has closed
.
There you can buy well-preserved items from the recycling depots.
Hall 2 closed from Wednesday
The used goods department store in
Hall 2 will be closed
from December 16, 2020.

Personal care facilities restricted due to Corona
Service companies in the field of personal care such as
hairdressers
,
cosmetic
studios
,
massage practices
or
tattoo studios
have to close completely.
However, there is one
exception
: Medically necessary treatments such as
physiotherapy
,
occupational
therapy
and logotherapy as well as podiatry and foot care are still allowed.
In addition, medical supply stores, pharmacies, drug stores, opticians, hearing aid audiologists and specialist markets for baby products also stay open.
Workshops not affected by the corona lockdown
Petrol stations
,
car repair shops
and
bicycle
repair shops will
remain open, but the trade will have to close, just like other shops.
For example, if a bicycle shop has integrated a workshop,
only the workshop remains open
.
What about other places where you can have something repaired (for example shoes) should be clear by Tuesday at the latest.
There was still no clear answer on Monday.
Hardware stores in Munich also closed
In the first
corona lockdown
, the time for DIY enthusiasts struck.
Visiting hardware stores was one of the most popular activities.
Because: Some of these businesses were also allowed to open in phases in which other shops were closed.
This time, the following will apply: DIY stores also remain closed.
This definitely applies to end customers.
It was not yet possible to find out on Tuesday whether there will be an exception for craftsmen.
Authorities in Munich have opened during lockdown
Apply for a new passport?
Have your driving license extended?
That still seems to be possible.
The positions of the municipal district administration department remain - as of now - open.
Bus and train: MVG changes during corona lockdown
The Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) reacts
to the lockdown
with individual
timetable adjustments
.
In view of the
curfew
, there will be changes to the
MVG night lines
from Friday
.
Moreover, the is
line 12
operated temporarily buses.
Specifically, this means: Night trams and night buses run every night from Friday onwards according to the timetable that is valid from Sunday to Thursday.
The usual frequency increases in the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday are omitted.
The reason for the new timetable is simply the lower demand.
Further information is available at www.mvg.de.
Others
Banks
and
savings banks remain open
.
Mail and mail order branches are also still open.
What it looks like with shops that have integrated a post office and also sell goods is still unclear.
Dry cleaners and laundromats are still open.
Locksmiths
are also still in use.
The sale of press articles takes place.
AOK Bayern is reacting to the current development and will close its branches for customer visits from tomorrow until further notice.
As of now,
cemeteries
and
playgrounds
remain open.
Schools & daycare centers in Bavaria closed
Schools across Bavaria are also affected
by the
lockdown
.
That means:
All Bavarian students will
stay
at home
from Wednesday
.
Homeschooling will take place until Friday, then the
Christmas holidays
will begin
.
Until then, however, emergency care should be set up.
The
daycare centers are
also closing - but they too should offer emergency care.
This time for everyone
who needs it (instead of earlier: for
systemically important people
).
