Within the activities of the Syrian Plastic Art Days 2020, the National Union of Syrian Students, in cooperation with the Directorate of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Culture, holds a group of exhibitions at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Damascus, which included about 600 works of art produced by the college’s students' workshops, “Graphic Department.”

The exhibitions will continue until the twenty-fourth of this month and include applied works, paintings, and models on flat and mobile design, paper sculpture, prevention of corona, and paintings, collections and posters by the artist, Dr. Abdel-Qader Arnaout, founder of Syrian plastic art.

These exhibitions are accompanied by cultural seminars on the Syrian identity in art and culture between the artist, the recipient and the producer, the role of the critic and the recipient, their levels, the level of artistic work, investment in plastic arts, the standard, and a vision of popular beauty values.

The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdin, in a statement to the media following the opening of exhibitions today, drew on the importance of graphic design as a global art to express reality and the personality of the artist, noting the efforts made by students and professors of the college students to present creative and distinguished works in which they expressed their ideas with professionalism and high artistic elegance indicating The potential and talents that they possess.

In this context, Assistant to the Minister of Culture, Rafiq Al-Imam, said that the work presented by the students is a quality that expresses their enthusiasm and interaction with their specialization, considering that they will support the Syrian plastic art movement upon their graduation and be one of its most important pillars and makers, stressing the ministry's keenness to attract students of the College of Fine Arts and involve them in various cultural activities and activities .

Member of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Head of the Artistic and Social Activity Office, Ghazwan al-Zaim, stated that the exhibitions and seminars come within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Union and the Ministry of Culture, which aims to consecrate culture among the Syrian university youth segment, unleash their creativity and enhance the values ​​of belonging and citizenship, which contribute to Building a strong, vibrant national society.

Dr. Samir Rahma, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts for Administrative Affairs, indicated that the students of the Graphic Photography Department presented a new artistic experience in the exhibition that dealt with several different axes in addition to that most of them included expressive manual works that form the seed of a huge future artistic project in the field of electronic graphic design, stressing the college’s support for students And attention to them in this context.

The students participating in the exhibitions Hammoud Radwan, Rima Qasim and Sham Al Daya considered that such exhibitions constitute an opportunity to publish their works and achievements during their years of study at the college in addition to that they contribute to preserving them and not losing them, as well as qualifying students to enter the labor market early and supplement Syrian plastic art with academic artists.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the Syrian Plastic Art Days 2020 held by the Directorate of Fine Arts at the Ministry of Culture started on the thirteenth of this month under the title “Creativity continues” and continues until the twenty first of this month and includes art exhibitions on Arabic calligraphy, ceramics, photography and portrait sculpture in addition to seminars And cultural forums in Damascus and the various governorates.
