Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU) assumes that voting in the Bundestag will also be possible electronically in future - but not so soon.
Both the technical and the legal requirements for deciding on laws electronically would be promoted, said Schäuble of the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".
"But I don't think there will be a decision in this legislative period."
The President of the Bundestag also described it as "a shame that the parliamentary groups could not bring themselves to pass a legal regulation for a completely digital party congress including the choice of staff".
So far, it has only been possible to vote electronically at party congresses on questions of content.
Schäuble also emphasized the special importance of direct contact in the formation of political opinion.
"We have now got used to parliamentary group meetings in video format," he said, referring to the procedure in the corona pandemic.
“But that's not a real debate.” Moods cannot be perceived to the same extent in video conferences.
