The federal police will escort the corona vaccine to the central camps of the federal states with armed escort units.

From there, the federal states take over the guarding of the serum.

According to SPIEGEL information, this is the result of an informal agreement between the federal and state governments.

Since the vaccine will initially come from abroad, the federal police will only guard it from the German border.

It is still unclear whether she will be able to send her support teams abroad in the future.

Bundeswehr to order half a billion disposable gloves for vaccination campaign

The vaccination campaign is not only a logistical mammoth task, but also a material battle.

The Ministry of Health has asked the Bundeswehr to order half a billion disposable gloves, 1.5 million protective suits and 87,000 full face masks for staff in vaccination centers through the procurement office.

In addition, the buyers of the troop are supposed to procure 8,700 protective glasses.

The delivery of the disposable gloves alone is likely to comprise around 14,000 pallets.

In Germany, vaccinations are to begin on December 27th, when the vaccine from Mainz-based company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer is approved in the European Union (EU) just before Christmas, as expected.

Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has described vaccination as the "way out of this pandemic".
