The Minister of Health of the Nation, Ginés González García, assured this Friday that the Government is
"annoyed with the attitude of Pfizer" regarding
the efforts to access its vaccine against the coronavirus.
"We have signed contracts. We feel quite upset with Pfizer's attitude," he said when participating in an activity in Córdoba to coordinate vaccination operations, according to the newspaper
La Voz
.
He added that the national government encouraged them, protected them, lent them the central military hospital for the trials and that later "they asked for some conditions that were not provided in the legislation."
In this regard, he recalled that Argentina has signed three contracts: with AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, with COVAX and with the Sovereign Fund of the Russian Federation.
The head of the health portfolio assured that the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus will begin "before the end of the year", and in that sense stressed that everything is ready for a "massive and unprecedented" application.
"The arrival of the doses is imminent. They will be supplied fairly, gradually and simultaneously with all the provinces," he said.
Regarding the effectiveness of the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine for those over 60 years of age, González García affirmed that "the test has already been completed" with that age group and that "it is awaiting approval by the Russian Ministry" therefore, he urged "not to generate mistrust in people" with the information that maintains that these drugs are not suitable.
