Runoff election for the US Senate: "We are the firewall against socialism"

In Georgia, the election campaign is entering the hot phase - there are two crucial Senate seats. Vice-President Pence feeds the myth of electoral fraud, the local candidates conjure up a tried and tested fine picture.

Georgia is still campaigning.

Or better: again.

Because in the southeastern US state a decisive runoff election for the composition of the US Senate will be held on January 5th.

The Senate elections took place parallel to the presidential election on November 3rd.

Senator Kelly Loeffler and Senator David Perdue run for the Republicans.

If only one of them wins a seat, the Republicans can block the future president's proposals and proposals in the Senate.

The candidates are trying to campaign with the same absurd narrative of still-US President Trump.

Kelly Loeffler

,

Senate Republican Candidate

“You are great patriots.

We cannot do this without you.

You know we are the ... what do we call that?

We are the firewall against socialism.

Because here is the battlefield for the future of the whole country. "

David Purdue

,

Senate Republican Candidate

“If you look at what history tells us, the price of socialism is freedom.

And what's at stake here right now: The Democrats want to push through their socialist agenda in our country.

We know that!"

There is backing from the incumbent Vice-President - and again allusions to the President's sufficiently refuted claims that extensive electoral fraud had taken place.

Mike Pence

,

US Vice President

“I know we all have our doubts about the past election.

We will keep fighting until every legal vote is counted.

We will keep fighting until all illegal votes are cast out.

Together we fight for free and fair elections. "

With such vague statements, Pence makes it clear that he is still behind President Trump.

He persistently refuses to acknowledge Joe Biden's clear election victory.
