For those who still doubt it, the number of civil servants is not decreasing in France.
It even tends to increase.
And this is not only an effect of the coronavirus crisis even if it has led the government to announce, in its fourth amending budget bill for 2020, the creation of 5,350 full-time equivalents ( AND P).
The latest figures from INSEE, published on Friday, actually show that the slimming cure promised at the start of the five-year term has been forgotten for a long time.

In 2019, more than 5.66 million public officials were employed in France, or 17,400 more than a year earlier.
An increase in the workforce of 0.3% which erases "
a drop of comparable magnitude between the end of 2017 and the end of 2018 (−0.4%)",
notes the statistical institute.
The increase in employment concerns all three sides of the public service (State, regional and hospital), despite the continued general decline in the number of assisted contracts.
