Residents living in the neighborhood of outgoing United States President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club warn that he can not live there at the end of his term, following an agreement he made with the town in 1993.

In a letter sent this week to the town of Palm Beach and the Secret Service, a lawyer representing a family living next door to the golf club stressed that "Mar-a-Lago is a social club, and no one is allowed to live on the property."

The lawyer further wrote that "in order to avoid an embarrassing situation and give the president time to evict his residence in the area, we trust you to work with his staff to remind them of the details of the usage agreement."

According to many media reports, Trump is already preparing to move to Florida.

His apartment in the club is being renovated, and Melania is looking for schools in the country for their 14-year-old son in the closet.

While Trump himself is identified with New York City, he changed his residential address to Florida last year and has already voted in the state in the last election.

The closed club was formerly the residence of businesswoman Marjorie Marweather Post, until it was acquired by Trump in 1985 to turn it into a lucrative business.

In 1993, Trump signed an agreement with the local government in Palm Beach, which stipulated that he could live there only if he met a number of conditions, including limiting the number of years of his annual residence in Mar-a-Lago.

Under the agreement, Trump will not be able to live at the club for more than three consecutive weeks a year, a condition that is inconsistent with the plan to settle in the place after leaving the White House.

This could lead to legal battles, while putting the Secret Service, which is supposed to deploy its agents where Trump will live as a private citizen, in the cauldron.

While Trump received in the election the majority of the votes of Palm Beach residents living on the same Mar-a-Lago coastline, neighbors hinted that the town had waived a breach of the terms of the agreement due to his role as president.

At all times, residents had to deal with various nuisances like traffic jams, security and noise.

"There was a circus here for four years and they got tired of it," one resident told CNN.

In his letter, the lawyer representing the local family noted that residents have no problem with Trump as a neighbor, just not at his golf club.

"Palm Beach has many wonderful estates for sale," it read.

"He can certainly find one that will meet his needs."
