Léa Lavy has just turned 105 and delivers a tremendous message of hope.
While the virus has claimed so many victims in all nursing homes in France, Léa, she survived the Covid!
Despite his great age.
Today she testifies.
Léa lives at the Fondation du Parmelan, in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), which has 185 residents.
A few weeks ago, this former employee of a jewelry manufacturer underwent a Covid test.
The result falls like a cleaver: the test is positive.
Lea is therefore contaminated by the virus.
His son, Roger Lavy, 74, remembers this phone call from the Ehpad: “A nurse told me that my mother was positive for Covid.
And she made me realize that at her age it was probably the end of it.
But that everything would be done so that my mother left in good conditions, with sedation.
And that I could exceptionally come and say goodbye to him, even if we were in full confinement and no visits were allowed.
"
His son goes to the nursing home thinking of the worst
Roger therefore goes to the nursing home thinking of the worst.
“When I arrived, I was surprised to find that my mother was not that bad.
Over the course of the visits, I was reinforced in the idea that she was resistant to the Covid.
"Indeed, Léa is facing the virus:" They took my temperature in the morning and in the evening and I never had a fever.
I conquered the virus since I am still here, ”she says proudly with her mischievous look.
The director of the establishment, Stéphane Richard, specifies however: "Lea was a little tired for a few days and she also had a little temperature, even if she did not realize it".
Today, Léa is doing like a charm: “I'm doing very well, I'm eating as usual.
And I'm still walking, even though I have to stand on the handrail in the hallway because I'm afraid of falling.
"
On December 10, Léa celebrated her 105th birthday, in the presence of the director and caregivers who offered her flowers.
"She is our dean and we are very happy to have her always with us," says Stéphane Richard.
Because there have been 33 deaths in the establishment in recent weeks.
“Knowing that Ms. Lavy was able to resist the virus brings a positive note and hope in the very difficult times we are living through.
"
A little bit of gymnastics
Léa Lavy is also affected to have seen so many residents leave.
" It's sad.
I didn't think there had been so many deaths.
It hurts me.
When you ask Lea the secret of her longevity, she jokes: "But I don't know, doctor!
"But she admits a weakness for chocolates:" That's what I like best.
Yes, maybe that's the secret of my longevity, ”she exclaims.
