Blocked parking spaces, security risk, noise pollution: in Unterhaching, residents are annoyed by trucks that park their streets.

Unterhaching

- A few rays of sunshine in winter lift the mood.

But this charisma does not reach everyone: In Fasanenstraße in Unterhaching, many living rooms or children's rooms remain gloomy even in the nicest weather.

The reason for this is undesirable "shadow donors", namely trucks parked directly in front of the residents' balconies. Not an isolated case, but a constant nuisance.

Now the community is also reacting.

No, it's not about loading or unloading.

That truck drivers sometimes stop in front of houses for their work: no issue.

What is denounced in Unterhaching is a systematic parking lot tourism by truck drivers, which not only annoys residents, but also endangers public safety and hinders, for example, garbage collection or rescue workers.

“This monster is almost always there,” one resident complains about the gray truck. At the on-site appointment with the Münchner Merkur, the neighbor adds: “I am constantly looking at a gray wall.” Sun on the balcony?

Nothing.

Perifid parking strategy

This is by far not everything.

The truck owner, who, according to our research, has very good contacts to the vehicle registration office and lives in the immediate vicinity, operates a real parking lot tourism in order to always be able to park his truck in the same place in the residential area, practically on the doorstep.

"As soon as the truck drives off, private cars are parked there to block," report the residents.

"When the truck comes back, it stands there for up to 15 minutes with the engine running and has the cars rearranged so that 'its parking space' is free again." Sometimes two trucks are parked there.

Noise pollution

Because all of this happens right in front of the residents' windows, there is an additional component: noise pollution.

Because sometimes the truck driver starts his tour at 5 a.m.

With corresponding beeping noises when maneuvering, which rob the residents of sleep.

"It is almost at our bedroom window - there is no longer any possibility of getting a good night's sleep," complained one of the victims.

Security risk

The residents believe that general safety is also endangered.

They documented all kinds of situations with photos and videos.

The problems can then be seen: Fasanenstrasse is clogged when the truck is waiting for “its parking space” and leads to narrow, alternative traffic;

Entrances to parking lots for residents are sometimes blocked in such a way that accidents can be proven due to the lack of viewing windows;

Schoolchildren are no longer seen behind the truck when crossing Fasanenstrasse.

stink

The truck parking lot tourism stinks to the residents.

In the truest sense of the word: “The other day he was chugging on the street for 30 minutes until the space was cleared for him by reparking the cars,” reports one resident: the smell of diesel in the living room.

Above all, however, the systematic - securing the "parking lot" for the truck with a car causes outrage: "That is a very bold way."

Mail from the Ministry

Parking lot terror caused by trucks, but elsewhere also by mobile homes and trailers: The municipality has therefore checked with the Ministry of Transport to find out what measures are available against such excesses.

And received a rather sobering answer, as Mayor Wolfgang Panzer (SPD) announced to the local council.

One idea from Unterhaching was that an adequate proof of parking space had to be provided upon admission.

But this is exactly what “the registration authorities should not check when registering vehicles;

the federal government would have to define such a requirement ”.

As for the proposal to only allow cars by means of traffic signs: This suggestion was made by the Ministry of Transport and Interior, which was "responsible for enforcing the StVO".

Requirement of mutual consideration

In the StVO, i.e. the road traffic regulations, the “requirement of mutual consideration” is anchored, as the Unterhachingen town hall spokesman Simon Hötzl emphasizes.

The municipality will follow this approach, at least in the specific case in Fasanenstrasse.

So that, maybe not just for Christmas, a little peace can come.

And again the sun shines in one or the other living room.
