"The lungs are the great forgotten in our body," says flatly Àlvar Agustí, director of the recently created Chair of Respiratory Health at the University of Barcelona (UB).
Major miscalculation: "It is a contradiction if we take into account that we can live several weeks without food or several days without drinking, but survival is limited to a few minutes if we stop breathing."
We do it awake and asleep, more than 15,000 times a day and rarely consciously.
