Great efforts made by the workers of the General Organization for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Aleppo to rehabilitate what was destroyed by terrorism that targeted the infrastructure of water projects and sabotaged pumping stations and lines to deprive the people of drinking water .. Today, on the fourth anniversary of the liberation of the city from the filth of terrorism, the Foundation has completed rehabilitation work in more than 200 projects in the countryside and in the city.
Engineer Yusef Kurdiya, the director of the foundation, explained in a statement to the SANA correspondent that since the victory of Aleppo was achieved at the hands of the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, the technical workshops carried out rehabilitation work and repaired the damage to the water system, starting from the Khafsa area on the Euphrates River, which contains water intakes that have been rehabilitated, passing through the draft canals. At a distance of 90 km towards Aleppo, the pumping centers in Al-Nayrab, Sheikh Lotfi and Handarat, to the sterilization, filtration and re-pumping stations in the Sulaiman Al-Halabi area of Aleppo.
Kurdish stated that the number of water projects covered by the restoration process is more than 200 projects that contain pumping stations, sterilization and networks. During this year, projects worth 8 billion Syrian pounds have been completed, and work is underway to rehabilitate the pumping centers in the northern and western countryside and include more than 60 water pumping centers that It depends on wells, in addition to completing the completion of the remaining 131 centers, with the aim of contributing to the return of citizens to their homes that were abandoned by terrorism.
Kurdish pointed out that the Foundation’s future plan aims to extend a fifth water traction line from the Khafsa area on the Euphrates River to the southern countryside of the city of Aleppo. Work is also underway to rehabilitate the water tanks in the countryside in five areas, namely Duwairina, al-Malikiyah, Abu Green, Tal al-Naam and al-Sefira at a cost of one and a half billion. Syrian pounds, in addition to the rehabilitation of the devastated countryside networks in the south and east of Aleppo. The operations of rehabilitating the destroyed pumping centers due to terrorism are also carried out at a value of 200 million Syrian pounds. There are works to rehabilitate the completely destroyed Sheikh Lotfi water center at a value of 350 million pounds, as well as the rehabilitation of the Nairab pumping center with a value of 350 million pounds.
He indicated that the number of water subscribers in the city of Aleppo reached 886 thousand subscribers and 400 thousand subscribers in the countryside, and water was delivered to all liberated neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo after the rehabilitation of the water networks there and the necessary maintenance of the pumping and sterilization stations in the Sulaiman al-Halabi area.
