Yuen Long District Councillor Fong Ho-hsuan was alleged to have secretly taken a mask assigned by the government for use by persons in custody when visiting detainees at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre in June this year.
Fang and the detainee were recently charged with a crime of conspiracy to carry unauthorized items out of the prison. They will appear in West Kowloon Court today (21st).
The two do not need to respond for the time being, and the case is postponed until February 23 next year.
Fang was released on bail of 2,000 yuan, and the other defendant continued to be remanded.
The defendants Fang Haoxuan (25 years old, district councilor) and Wu Weihao (39 years old, unemployed) were both charged with one count of conspiracy to carry unauthorized items out of prison.
The charges allege that they conspired to assist the party in Hong Kong on June 23 this year, without authorization, carrying a package with a package away from the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre.
