Christmas is getting closer.
But this year many celebrations will have to take place differently than in previous years.
Austria is still loosening up significantly over Christmas.
Austria last recorded 1645
new
corona
infections per day.
For the holidays, the neighboring country has now
eased it
.
There is also good news for amateur athletes.
Munich / Vienna - what is allowed and what is not?
Can I see the family?
Shortly before the contemplative time, the
Corona
restrictions
were discussed again and again
at
Christmas
.
Big family celebration, with a mask under the Christmas tree or a trip to the mountains?
Austria
, like
Germany
, has decided on clear regulations for Christmas.
And in doing so, issued an opening against which Angela Merkel clearly positioned herself.
Corona at Christmas: The regulations for Christmas in Austria
“Ski lifts will open to the public on December 24th, 2020” - So skiing at Christmas?
In Austria that should even be possible this year.
But how do our neighbors deal with the
coronavirus
at
Christmas
in general?
Like Germany, Austria continues to have high numbers.
The 7-day incidence on Sunday was 184.1 - with a downward trend.
And
Christmas
?
For the family celebration on Christmas Eve and December 25, the following applies: A maximum of ten people from up to ten different households.
The
distance and mask requirement
is suspended for these celebrations, according to the new COVID-19 protective measures regulation.
“This also applies to the extended private living area.” These include barns and garages, for example.
At Christmas (only the 24th) “animal parks, zoos and botanical gardens may be entered for recreational purposes”, according to the regulation.
Christmas will be possible on December 24th and 25th in a small group with a maximum of 10 people.
But the smaller the circle, the better!
The virus doesn't stop before the holidays.
From December 26th
the current rules apply.

But what about the grandparents?
Can you visit grandma and grandpa at
Christmas
in the nursing home?
Yes, that is possible.
But only with permanent mouth and nose protection in the form of an FFP2 mask and only in pairs.
Overall, residents of an old people's and care facility may receive visits from a maximum of two people at the same time twice between December 24th and 25th.
Corona at Christmas: Austria opens the ski areas - but strict rules must be observed
Hobby athletes can look forward to it:
Austria
opens
its ski areas
just in time for
Christmas
.
"Cable cars will also open to amateur athletes on December 24th, 2020 under the following conditions", announces the regulation.
"Distance obligation and MNS obligation, maximum 50% utilization of gondolas and armchairs that can be covered." In addition, an FFP2 mask or similar must be worn in the closed areas.
While the ski season opens, things are tightened elsewhere.
In the workplace as well as in “heavily frequented public places outdoors” there is now a stricter mask requirement.
And the
same will continue
after
Christmas
.
The
third lockdown
is expected
to come into force
on December 26th
.
This in turn means closed shops, exit restrictions and closed indoor sports and leisure facilities.
Outdoor sports halls can remain open.
The state will finally announce the regulations for New Year's Eve on Tuesday (December 22nd).
The exit restrictions are lifted for New Year's Eve, but the contact restrictions remain in place.
That means a maximum of 2 households together - this is important from our point of view, because New Year's Eve parties would mean the catastrophe for January.
- Sebastian Kurz (@sebastiankurz) December 11, 2020
On Twitter, the Austrian Chancellor Kurz further appeals to the population: “Our goal must be that from 18.1.
despite the
pandemic
, despite the challenging times, areas such as culture and tourism can reopen.
In times of a pandemic, this only works with tests. ”Further mass tests for
Austria
are planned for the first half of January.
