Officially, as of December 19, Congo had a total of 6,571 cases since March 14, for a death rate of 1.54%.

There are currently 887 active cases, according to the Department of Health.

General confinement had been decided, from March 31 to May 18, when the first cases from France appeared.

The two main cities of Congo, Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire, have been living under curfew (11 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the week) since the end of March.

The curfew was lifted in other cities across the country in October.

Borders, with the exception of air borders, remain closed.

Across the Congo River, Kinshasa and the whole of the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been living under a curfew since last Friday (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

In the capital of more than 10 million inhabitants, the curfew is causing even more dense traffic jams than usual.

The human rights NGO, the Voice of the Voiceless (VSV), has asked the authorities to postpone the curfew time from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the face of fears of

"massive contamination"

in transport crowded public places, and a rise in the cost of transport.
