Sweida-Sana
To date, the cultivated areas with wheat and barley crops in Sweida have exceeded more than 25,000 hectares, including the various regions of the governorate.
The Director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Engineer Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the cultivated areas so far are good, pointing out that there is a demand by farmers to plant the two crops in light of the availability of supplies and encouragement to do so, especially after the rainfalls during the past days.
Hamed pointed out that the quantities of diesel allocated and sold to farmers for the necessity of implementing the plan of cultivation of wheat and barley crops have reached to date about 571 thousand liters, and more than 2,100 tons of seeds have been sold and provided by the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication.
The plan to cultivate wheat crops in Sweida for the current season amounts to 40,763 hectares and barley 20,040 hectares.
