Munich
- Shortly before
Christmas
, the
situation in Munich's clinics
worsens.
The biggest challenge for the Corona crisis manager is still the lack of staff - especially in the care sector.
"That is why we are currently trying again to exchange nurses within the state capital," reported the two
Munich hospital coordinators Dr.
Viktoria Bogner-Flatz and Dr.
Dominik Hinzmann

particular
, which specialize in predictable operations, could
send

emergency
clinics
for support

At the same time, several clinics have put
new beds for Covid 19 patients
into operation - both in additional normal and intensive care units.

and
tz,
some of the
necessary technical equipment was
transported to the clinics
from a central
disaster control warehouse in the Munich district
.
The warehouse was set up during the
first Corona * wave in spring
, but was not yet needed at the time.
The background to the again
intensified crisis measures
: Munich's clinics must continue to admit more and more
corona patients
.
The Munich hospital coordinators have noticed a steady increase in both normal and intensive care units.
"We now have to bridge the next ten to 14 days until the
lockdown
takes effect and then hopefully results in a significant decrease in the number of infections," said Dr.
Viktoria Bogner-Flatz and Dr.

Corona in Munich: Highest level on the crisis scale of the responsible ministries
The two
physicians
- as medical crisis managers responsible for distributing the patients to the
Munich clinics
- had
already put the highest crisis level into effect on Sunday, December 13th
in the fight against the
second SARS-CoV-2 * wave
.
It is anchored in a joint general decree of the Bavarian Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior.
The third and highest level grants the hospital coordinators far-reaching powers.
In this way, they can oblige clinics to
keep beds free for corona and emergency patients
- similar to what was already the case at the beginning of the pandemic in spring.
In addition,
corona patients
who no longer have to be treated as inpatients can be transferred to other facilities, for example in rehabilitation clinics or quarantine hotels.
This regulation applies, for example, when senior citizens who are over the hill after an infection, but may still be contagious, cannot initially return to their old people's and nursing homes.
Also,
transfers of patients from hospitals in Munich adjacent counties
are theoretically possible.
Hospital coordinators praise the solidarity of the Munich clinics
"The
Munich clinics
are demonstrating great solidarity in this critical phase of the pandemic," praised Bogner-Flatz and Hinzmann.
"Despite the tense situation, which poses enormous challenges for all hospitals and their employees, all colleagues are doing their best to find pragmatic solutions." For example,
patients without corona infection are
transferred to other
hospitals
after being
treated
in the emergency room
relocated.
“Such measures are a valuable relief for the emergency clinics,” explained Bogner-Flatz and Hinzmann.
A material exchange has also started in order to create optimal treatment options everywhere.
Medical crisis manager: situation in the intensive care unit tense but under control
Against this background, the
medical crisis managers
again
emphasized
that
patient care in Munich
was not yet at risk.
“The danger that an intensive care bed will no longer be available in Munich in the near future is not in sight.
We have a high-performance health system that is currently under heavy strain, but can still create capacity. "
Coronavirus in Munich: expansion of intensive care beds possible at short notice
Background: According to the
population
registers, the
number of free intensive care beds
is scarce.
But - as happened in the past few days - new stations can be put into operation at short notice.
Nevertheless, a further significant
increase in the corona numbers
must be avoided.
“A seven-day incidence of well over 200 new infections per 100,000 population is far too high.
This alarming value urgently needs to be suppressed, ”said Bogner-Flatz and Hinzmann.
In the future, travelers returning from risk areas in Bavaria will have to be tested.
