Moroccan Foreign Minister: "A new era in relations, missions will open within two weeks"

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco, Nasser Burita, this evening (Tuesday) welcomed a celebratory press conference in Rabat on the resumption of official relations with the State of Israel.
"This is a historic day," said Burita. "Today, in a meeting with the King, we signed a tripartite declaration of cooperation between Israel, Morocco and the United States. We have decided to open a new era in Israeli-Morocco relations."
As part of the agreements, Burita clarified, "The three countries recognize the position of the King of Morocco on the Palestinian issue and regarding the preservation of the special character of Jerusalem."
He noted that "the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Morocco will serve both countries and will help peace and stability in the region."
He said the countries had agreed that the diplomatic missions in Rabat and Tel Aviv would open within two weeks.

The head of the National Security Staff, Meir Ben-Shabbat, also welcomed the resumption of relations.
"We came here on a historic direct flight. We came to make a vision a reality," Ben-Shabbat said, noting that "this is a big day for me on a personal level. My parents were born in Morocco and lived here."
"There is no limit to the cooperation between us in all areas. We can change the region for the benefit of the two peoples," added Ben-Shabbat, who told the Moroccan foreign minister: "We would like to host you soon in Israel."
He added that "relations with Morocco are of special importance. Many members of the Moroccan community in Israel will wish for this day. The funding that came out of Morocco has become an Israeli holiday. Moroccans affect all spheres of life in Israel. Warm and cordial peace. "
