The HKTB pointed out today (22nd) that it will hold the countdown on New Year’s Eve for the first time this year. It is recommended that citizens participate in the countdown at home.

According to the bureau, the countdown clock will be broadcast live at 11 o'clock in the evening on the 31st.

Until zero o'clock on New Year's Day, a short video of about 2 minutes will be broadcast live and a wish statement will be displayed.

The Tourism Board stated that it will hold the online countdown on New Year's Eve for the first time under the epidemic, hoping to cheer up the public and wish the whole world a healthy and safe new year and a better 2021.

There will be no countdown to fireworks on both sides of the Victoria Harbour on New Year’s Eve this year.

At midnight on New Year's Day, the HKTB will broadcast a two-minute short film live online.

According to the HKTB, the "Hong Kong New Year's Eve Countdown" will be held online for the first time this year. The public can sit at home and watch the New Year’s Eve countdown live broadcast via mobile phones and computers.

Starting at 11pm on December 31st, the countdown clock will be broadcast live on the Tourism Development Bureau (discoverhongkong.com), and the countdown clock will also be broadcast live on social platforms at 11:30.

Two-minute short film at zero hour and zero minutes

The bureau continued to point out that when it enters the New Year's Day at 0:00, a two-minute short film will be broadcast live on the Internet. The screen will revolve around the scenery of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour and the beautiful landmarks, and will show wishes to the world.

Looking through the information, the HKTB has cancelled the "New Year's Eve Countdown" for two consecutive years. The last time it was New Year's Eve in 2018.
