The Chek Lap Kok Tunnel Road in Tuen Mun will be opened at 8 am on the 27th. It was originally connected to a new road. The "Tuen Mun West Bypass" planned to be built in 2007 has not yet been determined.

According to sources, the Highways Department has recently initially drafted a new route for the bypass and decided to diverge through Tuen Mun East to build an 8 km long tunnel to connect the Tuen Chi Tunnel Highway Link to the Lam Tei East Interchange. It is expected to be completed by 2036 or before , The authorities will seek to hire engineering consultants for survey research and preliminary design in 2021/22.

As for the research on Route 11 for many years, its suggested wiring plan was exposed at the same time.

It is understood that the authorities propose to connect So Kwun Wat and Tai Lam Chung with a tunnel from Lam Tei, and build a new sea-crossing bridge "Tsing Lung Bridge" to connect Tsing Lung Tau to the northeast of Lantau, and then connect Tsing Yi to the Lantau Island link, straight out of the city. .

The Administration expects that after the completion of the new trunk road, the travel time from Tuen Mun, Lam Tei and Yuen Long to the urban area of the northwestern New Territories can be reduced by about 10 minutes.

The authorities will consult the Legislative Council and District Councils on the plan in the first quarter of next year. The project is also scheduled to open to traffic no later than 2036.

Tian Beichen, Member of the New Territories West Legislative Council, pointed out that the government estimates that the research cost is about several hundred million yuan. It believes that Route 11 will be completed and the traffic in Northwest New Territories will be "sunlight." Stonecutters Bridge, otherwise it will cause traffic bottlenecks on Lantau Island.

Tuen Mun Highway is currently congested frequently. Route 11 will be built with So Kwun Wat Link Road and Tai Lam Chung Tunnel will provide a parallel route to Tuen Mun Highway between So Kwun Wat and Tsing Lung Tau.

According to sources, the proposed Route 11 will start from Lam Tei, Tuen Mun, passing through So Kwan Wat, Tai Lam Chung, and the main trunk road from the northeast of Lantau to Tsing Yi. The scale of the project will include the construction of Lam Tei Tunnel, Tai Lam Chung Tunnel, Tsing Lung Bridge and So Kwan Wat connecting road to cope with Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Village New Development Area and Yuen Long South Development.

Route 11 is expected to relieve traffic congestion on Tuen Mun Highway

It is reported that the government has recently "understood" the Tuen Mun Bypass and Route 11.

The proposed Tsing Lung Bridge, which is part of Route 11, will be connected to the "Tsing Yi to Lantau Link Road", which is another project, so that vehicles in the northwestern New Territories can travel to and from Kowloon without passing through the Ting Kau Bridge. Highways and other major roads in the northwest of the New Territories provide multiple entrances and exits to divert traffic between the northwest of the New Territories and the urban area in the event of a major emergency.

According to the news, the government also expects that after the completion of Route 11 in 2036, it will help the morning peak hours and shorten the travel time from northwest New Territories to the urban area by about 10 minutes. It is estimated that Tuen Mun Highway (Siu Lam Section) and Tuen Mun Highway ( The traffic conditions of Sham Tseng Section), Tai Lam Tunnel, Ting Kau Bridge and Lantau Link will all be improved by then.

The originally planned Tuen Mun West Bypass is directly connected to the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor and has a branch tunnel to Tsing Tin Road.

Tuen Mun West Bypass changed to Tuen Mun East project renamed "Tuen Mun Bypass"

The "Tuen Mun Bypass", which replaces Tuen Mun West Bypass, is reported to also have an entrance and exit at Lam Tei, which will be connected by the Tuen Chi Tunnel, passing through Tuen Mun South and Tai Lam Country Park, connecting Lam Tei East Interchange to connect to Yuen Long Highway And Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Highway.

According to sources, the proposed "Tuen Mun Bypass" is 8 kilometers in length and is a two-lane two-way separated road. Except for the elevated road connecting Lam Tei East Interchange, the entire route is a traffic tunnel.

After the bypass is completed, it will travel from Lam Tei to the Tuen Chi Tunnel in 6 minutes, which is about 2 minutes faster than the originally planned Tuen Mun West Bypass.

The Tuen Chi Tunnel will open to traffic next Sunday. Many district councillors have been concerned about traffic congestion on Wong Chu Road in Tuen Mun.

According to sources, after the completion of the Tuen Mun Bypass, vehicles in the northwestern New Territories can enter Tuen Chi from Yuen Long Highway via Tuen Mun Bypass without passing through Tuen Mun Highway (city center), Wong Chu Road and other roads in Tuen Mun. In the tunnel, the traffic ratio of the relevant section will still be below the saturation level in 2036.

Due to the completion time of the Tuen Mun Bypass, it was significantly delayed compared to the original "Tuen Mun West Bypass" plan.

It is reported that the government intends to arrange separate road widening works for Longfu Road, Huangzhu Road and Hairong Road, but it is expected that the related works will be completed by 2031 or before.

The government currently has a number of development plans in the northwestern New Territories. In addition to the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area and Yuen Long South, the government has indicated earlier that it intends to develop brownfields in the Lam Tei area. Tuen Mun Central and Kam Tin South Public housing is being developed, each providing 8,000 units. In the future, traffic demand in Northwest New Territories will continue to rise.

Tunchi Tunnel opens to traffic at the end of the month Chen Fan: The project introduces a number of new technologies to create 6 "firsts"

Tunchi Tunnel will be opened to traffic on December 27 to relieve 10% of the traffic flow of Tun Gong and 20% of the traffic flow of the Lantau Link

The Tunchi Tunnel will open to traffic next month, the bus fare of Line A will be reduced by more than 40%. Project delays and overruns by 60%

New infrastructure to improve the northwestern New Territories connection Tian Beichen describes the traffic conditions as "changing"

Tian Beichen believes that the layout of the two arterial roads is reasonably designed. After 2036, there will be 3 free arterial roads in the northwestern New Territories, including Tuen Mun Highway, Route 11, and the Tai Lam Tunnel that the government will retrieve at that time, together with 3 The heavy rail, namely the West Rail Line, the Northern Link Line and the cross-sea line that is expected to be built on Lantau tomorrow, is expected to "change the sky in the northwestern New Territories after 2036."

Although the Route 11 plan mentions that the authorities intend to build a sea-crossing bridge from Tsing Yi to Lantau, the project is another project.

Tian Beichen pointed out that the new bridge proposed by the government will connect Lantau Island and Stonecutters Bridge, and an exit will be set up in Tsing Yi. He believes that the study of Route 11 must bundle the alignment study of the new bridge, otherwise there will be traffic jams on the Tsing Ma Bridge in the future. If the planning proposal of the authorities does not include relevant research, he must vote against it in the Legislative Council.

Regarding the Tuen Mun West Bypass, Tian pointed out that because the authorities did not know the starting point of Route 11 at the time of the design, the Tuen Mun West Bypass was "wonded to the north" and was eventually changed to the "Tuen Mun Bypass" to connect to Lam Tei. Located between Tuen Mun and Yuen Long, it is the "most natural location".

He also criticized that the Tuen Mun West Bypass has been studied for a long time and questioned that the government was wasting resources and time in the past, but the local infrastructure is worth hundreds of millions of dollars for research.
