(CNN) -
Two Russians working in the Russian embassy in Bogotá left the country on December 8.
The information was confirmed by the director of Migration Colombia, Juan Francisco Espinosa, in a televised press conference this Tuesday, from Cali: "I can confirm that on December 8, two Russian citizens who worked in the Russian embassy in Bogotá left the country." .
When asked why the two left Colombia, he said: "The reasons for their departure are matters of state, and I will not touch them, but I can confirm that they left the country that day."
When asked if the two citizens had been expelled from Colombia, Espinosa said: "Due to the circumstances in which they left, these two individuals will not be allowed to enter Colombia anytime soon."
The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, told NTN24 that for now they will not reveal more information because it does not respond to the principle of "continuing to carry out binational relations."

"We always get along in the best spirit but any diplomat who is in our country and who is acting contrary to the Vienna Convention, the country will be notified to proceed with the withdrawal of these personnel," added Duque.
Colombian Foreign Minister Claudia Blum reported on Tuesday that the Russian government ordered the withdrawal of two Colombian diplomatic officials accredited in Moscow, in response to the Colombian government's decision to request the withdrawal of the country's diplomatic officials.
"Despite these circumstances, the purpose of Colombia is to maintain the good level that diplomatic, commercial and cooperation relations with the Russian Federation have traditionally set," he said in a recorded message.
