  • The residents of a nursing home in Unterföhringen are said to be the first to be vaccinated in Bavaria

  • 212 home residents and 106 nursing staff from 116 homes are infected in the district

  • Therefore, the district starts vaccinations in the homes

District

- “There will definitely be no vaccinations in the district's vaccination centers on December 27,” said District Administrator Christoph Göbel in a virtual press conference one day before Christmas Eve.

"We prioritize the order and go with our mobile vaccination teams first and only to the homes."

Alarming: 212 residents and 106 nursing staff are infected

Because the current corona numbers from the care facilities are alarming, emphasized the district administrator.

212 residents in 16 facilities had tested positive (as of December 23), a week earlier there were only 82 residents in ten facilities.

106 of the employees are currently infected with the coronavirus, a week earlier there were 44. "The numbers are skyrocketing," said Goebel, who explained this "with two homes as hotspots".

Which in turn explains the strategy: vaccinations first in the homes, only then in the vaccination centers.

Only appointments could be made there from December 27th, but the waiting time will be "a few days".

Around 20,000 people over 80 years of age in the district

This also has to do with the availability of the vaccination doses: "They are the limiting factor," says the district administrator.

The Bavaria-wide distribution is based on the population.

He estimates the number of over 80-year-olds who belong to the first category on the vaccination list in the Munich district “at around 20,000”.

The district has already set up three vaccination centers in Haar (Wasserburger Straße 43-45, Unterschleißheim (Volksfestplatz / corner of Münchner Ring) and Oberhaching (Kolpingring 16), a fourth is to follow - probably in Planegg after the plans for Neuried have failed fourth vaccination center in the Würmtal, we are in hot preparations, ”said Göbel.

Appointments with the vaccination centers

Appointments can be made in these vaccination centers from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday in Haar (Tel. 089/248 80 66 60), Unterschleißheim (Tel. 089/312 03 44 22) and Oberhaching (Tel. 089/248 86 19 60).

As far as the procedure is concerned, including a briefing, which is mandatory, a run will take "around 20 minutes," said Göbel.

Plus up to half an hour of “rest” to observe how the vaccinated react.

As for the vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech / Pfizer: It has to be stored at minus 70 degrees, "but of course nobody gets a block of ice blown into the body," says the district administrator: After thawing, the vaccine can be kept in the refrigerator for three to five days.

A second vaccination is necessary after three to four weeks.

District Administrator Göbel can be vaccinated - when it's his turn

Will he get himself vaccinated?

“Yes,” said Goebel.

“But only when it's my turn in terms of age.

There is no special treatment from the district administrator. ”He replies to vaccination skeptics:“ The benefits will be significantly higher than the risks. ”

The 7-day incidence in the Munich district has skyrocketed, from 217.4 on Tuesday to

 288.83
