European statements about the relationship between Brussels and London after Brexit were contradictory.
The Italian news agency AKI quoted the French Minister of European Affairs as saying today that there is a need to stop negotiations during the next few days before the 31st of this December, explaining: "If we think that we will reach a bad agreement, it is better not to conclude an agreement."
This statement contradicts what the head of the European delegation negotiating, Michel Barnier, who confirmed the EU’s readiness to continue negotiations to reach a post-Brexit agreement even after the start of the new year if it is necessary.
Informed sources indicated that the head of the European delegation seeks to immunize himself from time pressure, to avoid making concessions at the last minute.
