At least 72 arson attacks against vehicles and various threats were recorded between 2016 and 2018 in the trendy and popular district of Neukölln, Berlin.

These attacks mostly targeted radical left activists or people active in helping refugees.

The Berlin police did not reveal the identities of the two suspects but according to the daily Tagesspiegel they are two neo-Nazis, Sebastian T. and Tilo P. One of the victims, a local politician of the Radical Left die Linke, Ferat Kocak said he continued to be afraid despite these arrests.

"

Afraid that they will be released, afraid that they will then commit an act of revenge,

" he said on Twitter.

The far-right threat has grown steadily in Germany in recent years, as domestic intelligence services and the police have tended to focus on the Islamist movement.

In June 2019, CDU politician Walter Lübcke was killed by a right-wing extremist while in February nine people of foreign origin were shot dead in Hanau, near Frankfurt.
