The Minister of Higher Education and Water Resources, Zeev Elkin, announced tonight (Wednesday) the departure of the Likud and joining Gideon Saar's new party, Tikva Hadasha.

He is the third Likud member to leave Saar's party after Michal Shir and Sharan Hashakel, who have already resigned from the Knesset in recent days.

Saar will make a statement tonight, as part of a press conference convened by his party.

This morning, MK Sharan Hashakel announced that she was leaving the Likud and joining Saar's new party. "I really love you, and for me this decision is unbearable," said Hashakel during the announcement in the Knesset. "The

mind, which is considered close to Saar, expressed confidence in its ability to form a government." About a year ago, I supported Gideon Saar in running for the Likud presidency.

I appreciated his vast experience, and his ability to act and change.

Mostly, I saw in him the only person in the political system who could unite the people, unite the House factions, and form a stable coalition.

"The last year, and the last three elections, have proven that this is doubly true," she said.
