The Department of Health and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong both carry out virus genetic analysis, which usually takes seven days. In response to the British variant of the virus, the Hong Kong government recently announced that it will tighten the quarantine arrangements for people returning to Hong Kong from the United Kingdom, prohibiting those who have stayed in the UK for more than two hours in the past 14 days from boarding and entering Hong Kong, including Hong Kong residents and transit passengers.
