Most of the fatalities in the Corona crisis are over 80. Politicians want to finally better protect this age group - especially in senior citizens' and nursing homes.
A crisis manager is now being deployed in Munich.
The Bavarian Ministry of Health is taking new emergency measures in the fight against Corona.
The Disaster Protection Act will be expanded
Crisis managers should help to stop the wave of infections in nursing homes - also in Munich.
The very old should be better protected
Well over 3000 of the 5000 corona fatalities in Bavaria belong to the 80 plus generation.
Politicians reacted late, but now want to better protect the very old in the homes.
Munich crisis team is expanded
Against this background, the Bavarian Ministry of Health has now deployed its own crisis managers for the nursing homes - the corresponding emergency measure from this week will be taken within the framework of the Disaster Protection Act and also applies to Munich.
The so-called care manager will sit in the Munich crisis team, which is officially called the disaster control management group.
Ministry spokesman: Crisis manager should advise homes
"We have thus created a function that primarily has the needs of nursing homes in mind," said ministry spokesman Marcus da Gloria Martins of our editorial team.
The crisis manager should advise the homes, among other things, on corona outbreaks.
Nursing professional should take over the new job
The nursing crisis managers, which will be installed in all Bavarian regions, should have a "professional background" in this area, the spokesman explained.
The authorities have not yet communicated who will take on the job in Munich.
Our editorial team has submitted a request to the municipal department for health and the environment.
The answer is still pending.
