Spain's head of government Pedro Sánchez, who has been in quarantine since last week after being a contact case of President Emmanuel Macron, has tested negative for Covid-19 a second time, his services announced on Wednesday 23 December.

", indicates a press release from the Moncloa Palace, seat of the Spanish government.

", recalled the press release.
Sánchez had quarantined and suspended his official program last Thursday late morning, as soon as the Elysee announced the contamination of Emmanuel Macron.
The socialist leader had participated three days earlier in Paris in several official events on the occasion of the 60 years of the OECD, including a lunch at the Elysee Palace with the French president.
In mid-March, at the start of the very strict confinement imposed in Spain to deal with the first wave of Covid-19, several Spanish ministers had been infected with the coronavirus, as well as the wife of Pedro Sanchez, but the latter did not had not been contaminated.
Spain is one of the European countries hardest hit by the pandemic, with an official death toll of more than 49,000 and more than 1.8 million cases.
