After the service meeting in the spring was canceled due to the corona pandemic, it has now been made up - via video conference.
Since no face-to-face event was possible, there were no elections.
So Konrad Bischel, who is no longer a candidate, remains in command for the time being.
Weilheim - Konrad Bischel, who wants to quit after three terms in office, dealt in his report on operations in 2019 in particular with current developments.
A new high of 299 was reached for alarms and security guards.
There was an increase in alarms of eleven percent compared to the record year 2018. The ratio of fire alarms to technical assistance "was exactly 1: 1", said Bischel.
It is noteworthy that the number of false positives has increased to 83, which corresponds to a share of 44 percent.
The larger fires were at a summer house on Huosiring and an apartment on the Auweg.
At the end of the year there was the greatest effort.
On December 29th, a 45 meter long machine hall burned down at the Zotzenmühle.
The fire of a bed in an unoccupied room in the hospital had consequences for the furnishings.
Because there was a strong spread of smoke there, smoke traps were purchased for the hospital and the community center.
According to Bischel, the most common cause of fire alarms was clearly burnt food, which triggered ten missions, with smoke detectors preventing worse in seven cases.
In second place followed scorch fires in electrical devices.
Bischel sees defective elevators as an increasing problem.
The fire brigade is often called here because the elevator emergency service does not come on time.
There were ten such missions in 2019, three of them at the train station.
Twelve people were freed.
On the occasion of his planned handover, Bischel looked back on the 18 years in which he was commandant (see list below).
The strength of the emergency personnel fluctuated between 61 and 80 during this time, the number of young people between eleven and 25. An active person worked an average of 162 hours per year on the other.
The fleet, which in 2002 consisted of ten vehicles, five trailers and six roll-off containers, currently comprises twelve vehicles, seven trailers and eleven roll-off containers.
The city of Weilheim spent around 7.4 million euros on the fire brigade during this time.
In contrast, there are around 1.22 million euros in income from grants, paid assignments and economic services.
