Tartous-Sana
Various ideas about the importance of the tree and its benefits were presented by students of basic education at Dar Al-Aman School for the Children of the Martyrs and other schools in the city of Tartous in a literary verse for children in the Tartous culture.
The afternoon came as a result of the "Me and My Tree" competition within the activities of the cultural awareness week on the occasion of the Tree Festival for this year, which was entitled (My Land of Gold).
Tartous Culture Director Kamal Badran said in a statement to SANA that after the recent fires that a number of governorates have witnessed, the Culture Directorate launched the Awareness Cultural Week initiative, which included many literary competitions, photography and drawing directed to all segments of society, especially children, to warn about the importance of vegetation.
Fadwa Ahmed, an Arabic language teacher at Dar Al-Aman School, indicated that a large group of children participated in the competition and five of them won and presented a bunch of stories that focused on the topic of the competition in a beautiful way within their intellectual capabilities and imagination compared to their young ages.
Elma Muhanna, a fifth-grade child, recalled the memories of the street she travels between her home and the school, which boasts green trees on both sides of it, and imagined the conversation that took place between her and the tree to weave her poem (teardrop) on that scene in a childish message to preserve a clean green environment.
Ibrahim Ismail, from the sixth grade, gave a conversation in the tongue of a man who falls asleep under the shade of an apple tree to narrate a conversation between him and the tree about its benefits and fruits, while student Hassan Hassan from the sixth grade also weaved a story from his imagination that included ideas about the importance of afforestation.
Fifth-grade student Jaafar Al-Hamoud focused in his story on the role of the tree in purifying the atmosphere to give fresh air to all people, hoping that everyone is aware of this importance to work together to preserve a green environment everywhere.
