DECRYPTION - In five years no less than 44 police officers and 53 gendarmes died while exercising their profession.


With this umpteenth drama, the gendarmerie definitely pays a heavy price to insecurity.

The latest study by the National Observatory on Delinquency and Criminal Responses (ONDRP) tells us that in five years, between 2014 and 2018, no less than 44 police officers and 53 gendarmes died while exercising their profession.

Of the soldiers who died, 26 were on an operational mission when they lost their lives.

Just like these gendarmes from Puy-de-Dôme killed in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, while they were intervening in front of a madman.

The year 2018 was notably marked by the heroic act of Colonel Arnaud Beltrame, during a hostage-taking in Trèbes (Aube).
