When the English think about an exceptional wealth tax

Making the rich pay, the idea is recurrent in times of historical crisis and in the aftermath of wars. A group of British academics, notably from the London School of Economics, are examining this possibility without ignoring the difficulties.

If the heavy goods vehicles are today immobilized at the Dover border because of the Covid and tomorrow because of the Brexit, the ideas circulate at the speed of light between Great Britain and the Old Continent.

Thus we have just received a report entitled soberly

"A wealth tax for the UK"

(a wealth tax for the United Kingdom).

Written by three academic experts from prestigious institutions (London School of Economics, Warwick University, Institute for Fiscal Studies), the study examines the feasibility of a wealth tax in Great Britain.

This taxation could be either annual or exceptional, therefore “one-off”, once and for all.

This second option is obviously the most original, at least for French people who are passionate about the ISF, whether they pay it or not (remember that the IFI is an ISF reduced to real estate wealth alone).
