At the 22:00 check-in on Thursday, Yannick Bestaven was still the leader of the Vendée Globe in the Pacific.
But the skipper of Maître CoQ was only 1.6 miles ahead of Charlie Dalin.
Positioned much further south than its competitor, the latter currently runs along the ice exclusion zone towards point Nemo (the place furthest from any land surface on the globe) where the leaders hope to reach more sustained winds promised by depression, probably early next week.
Still 3rd, Thomas Rettant (LinkedOut) sees his delay increase (+328 miles) due to a trajectory northward in recent hours to bypass, like Bestaven, the high pressure Dalin has chosen to cross.
Jean Le Cam (Yes We Cam!), 4th again, is not very far behind (+336 miles), as are four other followers (Herrmann, Dutreux, Seguin, Joshcke).
