Denialists, committed or affected by its most serious consequences, 2020 has offered all possible faces to the covid-19 in the world of celebrities

Within the cancellation of life as we knew it caused by the emergence of the coronavirus in March, social networks have served as a firewall to the pandemic in 2020 and have allowed celebrities to continue to look out into the world.

In a new reality without major premieres, concert tours or red carpets, popular faces have used their Twitter and Instagram accounts to stay connected with their audience, and also to express their vision on covid-19.

In this, the

celebrities

They have been a reflection of the citizenry and there have been everything from deniers with varying degrees of radicalism to truly irresponsible, to activists fighting the consequences of the disease or shaken by its ravages.

In a year that ends with the arrival of vaccines that announce the beginning of the end, for many celebrities there will be no antidote to counteract the damage that the pandemic has left on their image.

Ask Miguel Bosé, the celebrity who has given the most to talk about with his conspiracy theories.

Miguel Bosé, 64, posted himself on Twitter just as the world was beginning to leave confinement, back in June.

The singer declared that with the vaccine against covid-19 they would implant us a system connected to 5G networks, something he was strongly opposed to, and accused the European leaders of having allied with Bill Gates to "control" the population in a new "world order".

Later he returned to the charge announcing that "they want to kill us", and all this after his mother, Lucía Bosé, died in March with symptoms compatible with the coronavirus infection.

Others have been less belligerent, but also highly criticized for questioning sanitary measures to control the pandemic.

For example, Enrique Bunbury, who said that "the rules they want to impose on us should not be accepted by independent peoples."

Days later he shared an open letter declaring himself a victim of

bullying

and public stoning for, according to him, "not having said anything."

Madonna, one of the first to become infected while concluding her world tour in Paris at the end of February, published a video assuring that there was a vaccine ready but that "they don't want to give it to us."

The diva was widely criticized for her statements.

The

influencer

Pelayo Díaz, the actor Woody Harrelson or the tennis player Novak Djokovic, reluctant to vaccines despite having passed the virus,

also entered this group of unruly members of the official discourse

In a pandemic that today has almost 76 million diagnosed, there are dozens of famous people who have contracted the virus, and most have passed the disease without making too much noise.

Discretion and great respect for the virus have been the usual trend, with examples such as the actors Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks, Robert Pattinson or Antonio Banderas, or more recently the presenter Ellen DeGeneres.

Others have suffered serious covid cases, such as former Italian President Silvio Berlusconi or his compatriot the magnate Flavio Briatore.

In Spain, the presenter Roberto Leal, Juan Salazar de Los Chunguitos, who had to be admitted, the chef Dabiz Muñoz, who spent 12 very complicated days at his home, or the actor Tristán Ulloa, who came to pass, announced his positive for coronavirus five days in the hospital in his 50s.

Sport has been especially a victim of the coronavirus, with especially blatant cases of irresponsibility, such as that of the basketball player Rudy Gobert, who went viral for deliberately touching the microphones and recorders of a press conference, and testing positive a few days later.

Royalty has not been rid of the virus either, with the sounded positive of Prince Charles of England or Albert of Monaco.

Both survived the disease without complications, despite being 72 and 62 years old respectively.

Not all were equally lucky.

Covid-19 has taken figures such as Luis Eduardo Aute or designer Kenzo Takada, and other celebrities have fired very close people.

Former Real Madrid president Lorenzo Sanz died of coronavirus in March.

A few days before, Tamara Falcó said goodbye to her father, the Marquis de Griñón, and shortly after a friend of both families, the businessman Alfonso Cortina, left.

Ramoncín announced the loss of his mother, infected in a residence at the age of 98.

Especially hard was the double loss of father and grandmother that Fonsi Nieto suffered, although for many celebrities having to say goodbye to loved ones has served to get involved in the fight against the coronavirus.

This is what happened with Pep Guardiola, who after the death of his mother donated one million euros to buy medical supplies and raised funds for the investigation of the virus by doctors Bonaventura Clotet and Oriol Mitjá.

A multitude of familiar faces have acted along this line.

Actor Sean Penn has funded free screening points throughout the city of Los Angeles.

Also internationally, Lady Gaga organized the

Together at Home

concert

to raise funds with many other stars.

Like the singer and actress, other celebrities have decided to act in an exemplary way, such as Leonardo DiCaprio along with Robert De Niro, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Justin Bieber, Bong Joon-ho, Donatella Versace, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem or Ricky Martin, among others.

Many have chosen to raise funds or organize auctions, and others have chosen direct millionaire donations.

This is what Amancio Ortega or Ana Patricia Botín did, and in terms of raising funds, the initiative of Rafa Nadal together with Pau Gasol, who joined the main Spanish athletes in order to raise 11 million euros, has been highlighted.

Something similar happened with the #YoMeCorono campaign, with singers and actors at the forefront such as David Bisbal, Pedro Almodóvar or Serrat.

They managed to raise almost three million.

All to mitigate the effects of a pandemic that in celebrities has also broken taboos such as anxiety and depression caused by the virus.

So did the singer J Balvin, who did not hesitate to tell about his psychological affectation, sometimes worse than the physical consequences that a viral infection can leave.
