Justice ordered the release
of
Rubén Papadopulos, the father of the young fugitive accused of running over and killing a four-year-old boy in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Flores,
for lack of merit
.
The release of Papadópulos will take effect in the next few hours, for which he remains detained at Warden 14, in Recoleta.
The case is in the hands of Court No. 62 and the Augusto Troncoso prosecutor's office.
"My son contacted me after having parked the car. He told me crying that he had had an accident. He was not well understood and the communication was cut off. Afterwards I had no further contact with him," Papadopulos Sr. declared before the Justice.
Regarding the car, he said that
he had bought it about 20 days ago
and that he had not even gotten to drive it.
The VW Golf that caused the Flores tragedy.
The driver, Ricardo Papadopulos, is on the run after running over and killing 4-year-old Isaac Sus.
The lawyer for the Sus family, Gabriel Becker, understood in the hours before the release that there are no elements for the father to continue in detention.
"He is not a witness and his statement cannot be considered as false testimony. He is the father and is exempt from criminal responsibility due to the degree of consanguinity. For this reason we understand that his presence is merely distracting, it is a strategy," Becker had said.
The tragedy
occurred on Thursday, December 17
, when Débora Inés Agosti (45) crossed Directorate Avenue, at the height of San Pedrito, led by her son Isaac Sus (4).
The driver of a white Volkswagen Golf GTI sped past them, ran over them, and fled.
The baby died shortly after and the woman is hospitalized.
Ricardo Emanuel Papadopulos, 21, son of the man who gave himself up in the case for running over and killing a 4-year-old boy in Flores.
Investigators
believe that the one who was driving was Ricardo Papadopulo
s, who does not have a driver's license: they had been denied it because he did not pass the psychological test.
The images of the garage incriminate him and his own father, when speaking of that call in which the son confessed that he had had "an accident."
In the last hours, they ordered the international capture of the young man suspected of running over and killing the 4-year-old boy.
